Nova Scotia Fares Well at Atlantic Masters

Sandy Mackie won three titles to lead Nova Scotia’s effort at the Atlantic Masters Tennis Tournament in Charlottetown this past weekend.

Mackie cruised to the singles title the Ladies 35+, won the mixed title with Marc Pepin of New Brunswick with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Tish Dunn & Pavel Jockel of N.S. Mackie and Dunn also teamed up to win the Ladies 50+ doubles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Linda Dodds and Maria Jackman of N.S.

In Mens 60+, top seed Greig Redding (N.S.) prevailed in a grueling 3 hour, three setter over 2nd seed Pavel Jockel(N.S.) , 7-6, 1-6, 6-4, while Brian Arsenault(N.S.) defeated Slavko Negulic (N.S.) 6-0, 7-6 in the 65+ single.

Pepin also won the Mens 55+ singles while the 60+ Mens doubles was an all Nova Scotia affair, with Ken Reardon and Paul Richard defeating Redding and Arsenault 6-2, 6-3.

Lorne Alcorn of Charlottetown won the 45+ singles, while Patrick O’Connell (PEI) captured the 35+ event.
