Head of High Performance – Atlantic Tennis Centre
& Provincial Coach – Tennis Nova Scotia

The Atlantic Tennis Centre, operated by Tennis Nova Scotia, is an evolving and expanding organization committed to growing tennis across the Atlantic region. We aim to achieve this by ensuring the continuous growth and development of our team and High-Performance coaching staff, so that we can offer world class training, right here on Canada’s East Coast!

Based out of the brand new, 18-court, state of the art Sobeys Atlantic Tennis Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, this position requires an individual who possesses a desire to develop players from Progressive to Performance, with top 10 results at the National Level in U12 and U14. The successful candidate will also play a crucial role in delivering Provincial Camps throughout the year as well as travel to some key events, including the Atlantic Regional Championships and the Canadian Junior Nationals, to help increase our growing number of successful Nationals results and National Camp invitations.

This position will report to the Director of Coaching and Player Development and will be a senior role in our overall programming structure. The position requires flexible weekly work hours, including 1 or 2 early mornings, evenings and weekends as per program, player, and event needs.

The position will require an average of 28 hours per week on court, plus approximately 12 HP-specific hours of administration, plus the option for additional private lessons within a reasonable and sustainable schedule.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Work with the team to plan and deliver world-class HP training
Work with provincial Performance leaders in leading and delivering HP development from U9 to U16 National Level
Work with provincial Tennis Development leaders to identify program needs and offer programming support and instruction to member clubs
Delivery of private training
Help create and monitor Group and Individual Annual HP Plans
Oversee the U8, U10, and U12 Player Development Program
Coach at specified events TBD, on behalf of the ATC and TNS
Assist in tournament and event administration where necessary

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Tennis Canada Coach 3, or Equivalent, or Coach 2 with a clear track record of player development.
Minimum 5 years of experience in the tennis industry
Strong understanding of Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) and Tennis Canada Tennis Development Pathways and programs
Minimum 5.0 current playing ability
College or professional playing history is an asset, not required
Track record of professionalism in customer service and children’s athletics environments
Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
Strong organizational skills
First Aid certification, Criminal Record Check required
A strong relationship builder and team player
Strong understanding of national tennis development trends

COMPENSATION
This position will offer an annual income of $80,000 to $90,000, depending on Certification and Experience, plus option for additional private lesson revenue, as well as a travel per diem for required travel of approximately 4-5 events per year.
