“Nice! Good try, yeah you got it,” Niket Sampalli keeps up a constant stream of encouragement.
It’s a Friday afternoon at the tennis courts on the Halifax Common and Sampalli and other volunteer coaches are trying to teach the basics to at least 10 kids, all of whom are newcomers to Halifax.
Sampalli started New 2 TNS, a free program to teach tennis to newcomer youngsters, in 2020. He received a grant from his high school to get it started.
